For service members planning to transition out of the Navy

Service to School - Service-to-School (S2S) provides free mentorship and academic advisement to transitioning service members and Veterans seeking a four year bachelor’s degree. They provide application assistance, mentoring and know-how to ensure that Veterans can pursue higher education at quality schools, whether at the graduate or undergraduate level.

Feds Hire Vets - Feds Hire Vets is your single site for Federal employment information for Veterans, transitioning military service members, their families, and Federal hiring officials. Information to help you understand veterans' preference, how Federal jobs are filled, and unique veteran appointing authorities designed to help you find a job.

Veteran eMentor is an online mentoring community for transitioning service members to connect to civilian professionals. These mentors can assist in the transition from the military to the civilian workforce. More than half of the civilian professional mentors are prior service, successfully transitioned to the civilian workforce and are working for veteran-friendly companies. Additional information.

U.S. Customs / Border Patrol is interested in hiring veterans, as they have a multitude of qualities that they are looking for in their candidates. The hiring process time frame varies from about six months to a year or more, so if you are interested, submit your application as soon as possible. The VA's On-The-Job Training and Apprenticeship program allows Veterans to learn a trade or skill through structured training and close supervision on the job rather than attending formal classroom instruction. The program is available through both non-Federal and Federal agencies/entities.
